STL operates a fully licensed VSAT and DTH hub (NOC) and network here in Ghana, acting as a WAN for the largest organizations within the country. We use the latest technology from Gilat and the latest Intelsat satellite to ensure the highest availability. This combination enables us to cover not just Ghana, but a large portion of West Africa using small antennas.
STL have full control over the network, we are not purchasing services from an external operator or middleman. We are able to quickly change the bandwidth requirements of the network as the system grows and to suit the needs of our customers.
The network is completely independent of Ghana Telecom infrastructure and offers availability of better than 99.5%.
We perform our own RF and VSAT base band engineering, software upgrades, and maintenance. Also our own engineers do the work, too; we don't outsource. By maintaining our own hub, we know intimately what makes your VSAT network tick-and how to keep it ticking-knowledge that translates into better service for you.

The VSATs used are the latest technology and have the capability of providing data, VOIP and multimedia and routing functions in the same box. We use the smallest dish for ease of installation thus making the system affordable whilst maintaining full reliability. The VSATs are plug and play with a field-proven MTBF of around 15 years.
SkyEdge contains a centralized Network Management System (NMS) which features hub partitioning for shared hubs, allowing for the most efficient allocation of resources. Proprietary NMS utilities such as Templates, Commit, Compare, Find VSAT and Wizards facilitate administrators' tasks while guiding them through common processes and better preparing them for system and VSAT modifications.
Since all software is embedded directly into the VSATs there is no need for external boxes. All software can be fully managed, easily controlled and updated remotely from the NMS.
STL owns and operates our own High Speed Radio Network in Accra and Tema linking back to the Hub. This enables a reliable connection (using licensed frequencies) to the customer HQ.
The STL radio network provides complete coverage of Accra and Tema using point to point and point to multipoint technologies. Branch locations are equipped with a small antenna and indoor unit which provides links of typically 128 or 256kbps, whilst Headquarters and important links receive up to 4Mbps. The network is configured with alternate routing thus safeguarding single points of failure. The network is fully monitored in our NOC where changes and upgrades can be made without visits to the customer's site.
